Children’s National Medical Center Internship

The national Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) at Children’s National Medical Center is the first federally- funded pediatric emergency medicine research network, consisting of 18 hospital emergency departments dedicated to rigorous, multi-institutional research on the prevention management  and rehabilitation of acute illness and injury in children.  PECARN is currently hiring students for their 11-week summer internship program, which is meant to represent a unique opportunity for students to directly participate in the performance of clinical research, while also observing overall ED operations and interacting with physicians, nurses, and other health care personnel.  You can find more details Academic Associate Program 2013.

New Summer Program at Drexel!

The Opening Doors program provides undergraduate, graduate and medical students with education and training to pursue advanced study and health disparities research.

Students enrolled into Opening Doors will participate in summer seminars and receive a stipend to work on faculty-mentored research on a wide variety of topics that influence health disparities, including Diabetes, Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Substance abuse, and Autism.

Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA and priority will be given to students who are racial/ethnic minorities; lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT); people with disabilities; and from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Application deadline is Feb. 28!

Internship at Children’s

Dept: Research Center for Genetic Medicine
Project Description: AIMMYoung is a study designed to determine associations between metabolic disease phenotypes and genotypes in healthy college aged students. We are looking for a student intern for a data entry position. The student intern will input questionnaires regarding diet, fitness and medical history. No experience is required. Depending on the the student’s interests, there may be opportunities to learn basic laboratory techniques used in basic research projects related to skeletal muscle homeostasis.
